Strategic Management

Strategic Management

Aivazovsky

Aivazovsky

The seascapes of Ivan Aivazovsky (1817-1900) made his name in Russia, his native country where he was a painter of the court of Nicholas I, yet his fame barely extended beyond these borders. Master of the Sublime, he made the ocean the principal subject of his work. Sometimes wild and raging, sometimes calm and peaceful, the life of the ocean is composed of as many allegories as the human condition. Like Turner, whom he knew and whose art he admired, he never painted outside in nature, nor did he make preliminary sketches; his paintings were the fruit of his exceptional memory. With more than 6,000 canvasses, Aivazovsky was one of the most prolific painters of his time.

Cutaneous Lymphomas

This book describes unusual cases of cutaneous lymphomas and is of special interest for clinicians and pathologists dealing with the vexing subject of cutaneous lymphoma. In addition to the case description, it gives the clinical, histological, and in most cases also the phenotypical features and the results of molecular techniques. A commentary puts the observations into the context of cutaneous lymphomas. Related papers are cited. The book will be especially helpful in cases which do not fit into the normal spectrum of cutaneous lymphomas. Rare entities of cutaneous lymphomas are demonstrated with high-quality pictures (4-color) and a concise text in an appealing format throughout the book. The new WHO/EORTC-Classification of Cutaneous lymphomas includes more than 30 entities of Cutaneous T-cell and Cutaneous B-cell lymphomas.

Great American Judges [2 volumes]

  • Categories: Law

Inspiring and instructive biographies of the 100 most influential judges from state and federal courts in one easy-to-access volume. Great American Judges profiles 100 outstanding judges and justices in a full sweep of U.S. history. Chosen by lawyers, historians, and political scientists, these men and women laid the foundation of U.S. law. A complement to Great American Lawyers, together these two volumes create a complete picture of our nation's top legal minds from colonial times to today. Following an introduction on the role of judges in American history are A–Z biographical entries portraying this diverse group from extraordinarily different backgrounds. Students and history enthusiasts will appreciate the accomplishments of these role models and the connections between their inspiring lives and their far-reaching legal decisions. William Rehnquist, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr., and 12 other Supreme Court justices are found alongside federal judges like Skelly Wright, who ordered school desegregation in 1960. Influential state judges such as Rose Elizabeth Bird, California's first woman Supreme Court Chief Justice, are also featured.
