Con ilusión, nos complace presentar este libro en materia de “Feminismo Digital”. Se trata de una obra que se trata de dilucidar cuestiones relevantes en el mundo actual: ¿cómo impacta la tecnología digital sobre los derechos de las mujeres?, ¿permite la construcción de un mundo más libre para las mujeres u origina nuevas formas de violencia machista?Para abordar estas complejas preguntas, hemos dividido la obra en dos secciones: I. “Violencia contra las mujeres y brecha sexista en internet” y II. “Feminismo Digital”. La primera se centra en los temas de la violencia contra las mujeres a través de las tecnologías informáticas, la cosificación femenina en internet, el impacto social de la pornografía digital, la promoción digital de los vientres de alquiler, el acoso sexual y el movimiento de redes sociales “me too”. Este último capítulo conecta con la segunda sección del libro, dedicada al feminismo digital, la brecha sexista en internet, el teletrabajo y otros asuntos relativos a la esfera laboral, la representación femenina en los soportes digitales y en el arte.

Ya hace tiempo que las redes sociales han dejado de ser “nuevos medios” para pasar a formar parte del arsenal comunicativo habitual de todo tipo de instituciones públicas y privadas. Es por ello que hemos evitado emplear el término nuevo en el título de este libro, el cual se presenta, no como una ilustración de innovaciones tecnológicas y su aplicación a la comunicación, sino más bien como una panorámica sobre la realidad presente de la comunicación de naturaleza política e ideológica. Por otro lado, y dada la importancia que tienen en la actualidad Internet y las redes sociales a la hora de vehicular los intereses de los poderosos (y también de los contrapoderes sociales), era esperable que el factor de lo digital ocupase un lugar central en el libro.
