Manuel Gallego
Manuel Gallego (born 1936), a disciple of the most important Spanish architect of the post-war period, Alejandro de la Sota, is perhaps the best exponent of radical architecture in Spain today. He is counted among the leading authorities in the field. Gallego's architecture is sensibly integrated into the urban or rural context, as the case may be. His rational buildings -a series of broken up primary forms grounded in the particulars of the place, where the spaces created open up to the outside and the walls act as the connecting elements between architecture and nature -stand out for their striking sculptural expression. The radical nature of his architecutre is solidly rooted in the vernacular, giving rise to innvoative designs in which the unapologetic use of local materials (stone, wood, glass, metal) and the handling of light create an intimate dialogue between man-made and the surrounding environment.

Raoul Dufy
French Fauvist painter Raoul Dufy (1877-1953), with his cheerful watercolors and oils depicting scenes of regattas and horse races, has largely been cast as a painter of luxury and leisure. This book moves away from the traditional interpretation of Dufy as a painter of pleasurable bourgeois pastimes. While not ignoring the undeniable hedonistic nature of his work, it sets out to show the gradual development of his personal style and his constant pursuit of new artistic expressions, highlighting the more introspective and reflective side of his oeuvre. The Wind Among the Leaves
A beautifully produced clothbound compendium of the many varieties of bonsai trees This volume compiles superb color photography of one of the most outstanding collections of bonsai in Europe, assembled by collector and author Luis Vallejo, founder of the Luis Vallejo Bonsai Museum in Alcobendas, Spain. This internationally celebrated collection boasts native specimens designed by Vallejo, as well as specimens by Japanese masters such as Masahiko Kimura, Saburo Kato, Hiroshi Takeyama and Shinji Suzuki. This book accompanied the Lotto Lorenzo Portraits exhibition at the National Gallery (5 November 2018 - 10 February 2019). Celebrated as one of the greatest portraitists of the Italian Renaissance, Lorenzo Lotto uniquely portrayed a cross section of middle-class sitters, among them clerics, merchants and humanists. Lotto depicted men, women and children in compositions rich in symbolism and imbued with great psychological depth. The prominent addition of objects which hinted at the social status, interests, and aspirations of his subjects added meaning to each work. Trees have been deliberately connected with houses since they were introduced as a prominent part of architectural design. The relationships of contiguity between houses and trees have existed since ancient times. However, at the end of the 19th century those links became explicit in the design process, as the house emerged as one of the fundamental architectural programs, and as the result of an increasing sensibility towards environmental aspects and the landscape.
