Interest in microarrays has increased considerably in the last ten years. This increase in the use of microarray technology has led to the need for good standards of microarray experimental notation, data representation, and the introduction of standard experimental controls, as well as standard data normalization and analysis techniques. Statistics for Microarrays: Design, Analysis and Inference is the first book that presents a coherent and systematic overview of statistical methods in all stages in the process of analysing microarray data – from getting good data to obtaining meaningful results. Provides an overview of statistics for microarrays, including experimental design, data prep...
This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the 10th International Meeting on Computational Intelligence Methods for Bioinformatics and Biostatistics, CIBB 2013, held in Nice, France in June 2013. The 19 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 35 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on bioinformatics, biostatistics, knowledge based medicine, and data integration and analysis in omic-science.
In the recent decades, the emerging new molecular measurement techniques and their subsequent availability in chemical database has allowed easier retrieval of the associated data by the chemical analyst. Before the data revolution, most books focused either on mathematical modeling of chemical processes or exploratory chemometrics. Computational and Statistical Methods for Chemical Engineering aims to combine these two approaches and provide aspiring chemical engineers a single, comprehensive account of computational and statistical methods. The book consists of four parts: Part I discusses the necessary calculus, linear algebra, and probability background that the student may or may not ha...
This volume presents a collection of peer-reviewed contributions arising from StartUp Research: a stimulating research experience in which twenty-eight early-career researchers collaborated with seven senior international professors in order to develop novel statistical methods for complex brain imaging data. During this meeting, which was held on June 25–27, 2017 in Siena (Italy), the research groups focused on recent multimodality imaging datasets measuring brain function and structure, and proposed a wide variety of methods for network analysis, spatial inference, graphical modeling, multiple testing, dynamic inference, data fusion, tensor factorization, object-oriented analysis and others. The results of their studies are gathered here, along with a final contribution by Michele Guindani and Marina Vannucci that opens new research directions in this field. The book offers a valuable resource for all researchers in Data Science and Neuroscience who are interested in the promising intersections of these two fundamental disciplines.
