Research and Advanced Technology for Digital Libraries
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 12th European Conference on Research and Advanced Technology for Digital Libraries, ECDL 2008, held in Aarhus, Denmark, in September 2008. The 28 revised full papers and 10 revised short papers presented together with 1 panel description, the extended abstracts of 24 revised poster and demo papers were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 125 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on digital preservation, social tagging, quatations and annotations, user studies and system evaluation, from content-centric to person-centric systems, citation analysis, collection building, user interfaces and personalization, interoperability, information retrieval, and metadata generation.
Research Data Management - A European Perspective

Volume 2 - Hackberry, Oakland (Prairie Point) & Clear Creek During the 1800's, the area along and between the East and West Navidad Rivers in Texas was known as the Navidad Country. A majority of the pioneers came from the Old South, some arriving with Stephen F. Austin's Old Three Hundred. Once settled, they proceeded to clear the land, till the soil and build homes and towns. The aftermath of the Civil War brought great change and loss to these once prosperous people. Information and photographs for over 100 of the families and their relationships is made available for the first time, in addition to descriptive accounts of the once thriving towns of the area.

Energy Efficiency in Small and Medium Sized Enterprises
The EU’s Directive 2012/27/EU on energy efficiency obliges Member States to develop programmes to encourage small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to improve energy efficiency by implementing energy audits and the recommendations that stem from these audits. This study looks at the barriers that SMEs face and the existing policy instruments in more detail and analyses which practices are working. The study concludes that SMEs cannot be effectively targeted with solely uniform solutions even within the same country and even though many of them face similar barriers. More emphasis is needed on sharing information and best practices and guiding SMEs to implement energy efficiency improvements after having identified the opportunities. The good news is that many good practices already exist and there is potential to improve. Now it is just a question of taking action.
