Roma Pentecostals Narrating Identity, Trauma, and Renewal in Croatia and Serbia
Stories of Pentecostal conversion and church growth in Roma communities are prolific across Europe but how does conversion impact daily lives in the context of economic hardship and social marginalization? In fact, Roma Pentecostal life stories from Croatia and Serbia reveal both resilience and suffering, and consequently reveal the struggle of lived faith amidst formidable challenges. In what ways, then, has a new Pentecostal identity shifted relationships, thinking, and behaviour? This ethnography explores the ways in which these Roma Pentecostals incorporate their faith in their daily lives through analysing their life stories in conjunction with their socio-cultural contexts and Pentecostal theology.
Didactics of Smart Pedagogy
The focus on smart education has become a new trend in the global educational field. Some countries have already developed smart education systems and there is increasing pressure coming from business and tech communities to continue this development. Simultaneously, there are only fragmented studies on the didactic aspects of technology usage. Thus, pedagogy as a science must engage in a new research direction—smart pedagogy. This book seeks to engage in a new research direction, that of smart pedagogy. It launches discussions on how to use all sorts of smart education solutions in the context of existing learning theories and on how to apply innovative solutions in order to reduce the marginalization of groups in educational contexts. Posegnuvši za historiografskom građom i antičkom legendom o nastanku Osijeka iz božice (pra)roditeljskog zagrljaja Tihe i boga Dravusa, autorica poeme Ars Meandrum Jasna Horvat istražila je gradske narative primjerene brendiranju grada kružnom kreativnošću. Cognitive Modelling in Language and Discourse across Cultures
This volume deals with core issues in figurative language and figurative thought. It also explores areas of convergence between idealised cognitive models and language across fourteen European and non-European languages (Croatian, English, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Persian, Polish, Russian, Old Saxon, Sicilian, Spanish, Swedish, and Turkish). The collection foregrounds the relationship that holds between literalness and figurativeness in meaning construction, it emphasises the role of conceptual metonymy and metaphor as the main cognitive tools at work in inferential activity and as generators of discourse ties, and it also depicts the import of cognitive models in the production and interpretation of multimodal communication. In addition, a number of more specific topics are addressed from different perspectives, such as language variation and cultural models, the argumentative role of metaphor in discourse and the role of empirical work in cognitive linguistics.
