This letter is dated 12 July 1859, is addressed to G. Hadfield, is written on notepaper with a thick, black border, and forwarded a letter from a Mr C. Porterene (?) with an introduction to a Mr Douglas, which is no longer with this letter. Judging by the note on the Autograph Collection card catalogue, this letter may have been given the earlier collection number (accession number) M4379.
This letter is dated 10 June 1857, is addressed to George Hadfield, is written on notepaper with a thick, black border, and expresses the view also stated in the accompanying memorandum that the prospects of the Colony of Vancouver Island and the Colony of British Colombia prospering and remaining under British authority were good, in response to points raised in a letter from a Mr Macfie. The letter bears the earlier collection number (accession number) M4378, and is accompanied by its original envelope, whose top right corner with the stamp has been removed.
