This book examines the fundamental concepts of multimodality small-animal molecular imaging technologies and their numerous applications in biomedical research. Driven primarily by the widespread availability of various small-animal models of human diseases replicating accurately biological and biochemical processes in vivo, this is a relatively new yet rapidly expanding field that has excellent potential to become a powerful tool in biomedical research and drug development. In addition to being a powerful clinical tool, a number of imaging modalities including but not limited to CT, MRI, SPECT and PET are also used in small laboratory animal research to visualize and track certain molecular processes associated with diseases such as cancer, heart disease and neurological disorders in living small animal models of disease. In vivo small-animal imaging is playing a pivotal role in the scientific research paradigm enabling to understand human molecular biology and pathophysiology using, for instance, genetically engineered mice with spontaneous diseases that closely mimic human diseases.
Welcome to the Ayurveda and psychiatric care world, where ancient wisdom meets modern science to pursue holistic well-being. In this book, "Ayurveda and Psychiatric Care: A Tongue-Based Approach," we embark on a transformative journey that explores the profound connection between the mind, body, and soul. Ayurveda, a system of medicine rooted in the ancient traditions of India, offers a unique perspective on health and wellness. It recognizes that true healing encompasses more than just the physical body—it encompasses the mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of our being. Over thousands of years, Ayurveda has developed a comprehensive approach to achieving balance and harmon...
In Ayurveda it is mentioned that disease should be diagnosed first and then rational therapeutic measures should be employed. Physicians who starts the treatment without diagnosing a disease, succeeds by chance even if he is an expert in the medicine. So for the purpose of diagnosis Acharya’s have explained many Pariksha. One among this Pariksha is Ashthasthana Pariksha which helps in knowing the different Dosha Avastha. One among this Asthasthana Pariksha is Jihwa Pariksha. In case of Disease, Dosha in its Prakupita Avastha leadsto particular appearance of tongue which can be observed by a physician. In case of Vataja Vikara Jihwa is said to be Sheet, Khara & Sphuta, In case of Pittaja Vi...
Evolving Landscape of Molecular Diagnostics: Applications and Techniques presents cutting-edge reviews on current and emerging technologies in the diagnosis of microbial infections. The book discusses the fundamentals of Molecular Diagnostics for bacteria, fungi, viruses and a variety of state-of-the-art diagnostics tools and techniques for obtaining qualitative and quantitative results. It includes topics such as Next generation sequencing and application of "OMICS" for early disease diagnosis. Sections cover the entire spectrum of emerging diagnostic tools and techniques, as well as the principles, pros and cons of each method and applications for diagnosis of infectious disease in plants,...
Thoroughly and systematically presents the state-of-the-art in the diagnostic uses of radiologic imaging and nuclear medicine in the diagnosis and management of infectious and inflammatory diseases Although our understanding of microorganisms has advanced significantly and antimicrobial therapy has become increasingly available, infection remains a major cause of patient morbidity and mortality. Imaging of infection and inflammation provides a classic example of radiology and nuclear medicine’s strengths as well as weaknesses in the discovery and diagnosis of disease. Fortunately, the weaknesses are subsiding as new studies and techniques point to better planning and precision in the use o...
