Chiefly, a record of descendants of Rev. George Phillips who was born in Rainham, St. Martins, Norfolk County, England in 1593. His father was Christopher Phillips of Rainham, St. Martins, who was born in 1560. George Phillips was educated in Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge University, receiving the degree of B.A. in 1613 and the degree of A.M. in 1617. He studied theology, distinguishing himself by learning the scriptures in their languages. He married (1st) Elizabeth Sergent, daughter of Richard Sergent ca. 1624. They settled in Boxted, Essex, County, England where he became a minister of the established church. On April 12, 1630, he sailed with his wife and two children to America on the ship Arbella. Soon, after landing at Salem, Massachusetts, Elizabeth died on June 12, 1630. About 1631, Rev. Phillips married ( 2nd) Elizabeth Stewart Weldon, who was the widow of Capt. Robert Weldon. They had seven children. Rev. George Phillips died July 1, 1644 at Watertown, Massachusetts. Elizabeth Weldon Phillips died in Watertown on June 27, 1681. Descendants lived in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Wisconsin, Rhode Island, California, Arizona, Pennsylvania and elsewhere.
