The manuscript collection of notebooks of William Chaster Tait (1844-1928) comprises of four large notebooks on the birds of Portugal between the years 1862 to 1928. Entries for these volumes are as follows:[volume 1] 1862 to 1911, volume 2 1912 to 1927, [volume 3] 1927, [volume 4] 1927 to 1928. Volume 3 contains letters from Henry Coverley. Volumes 1-3 are in species order, Volume 4 is a journal with only 7 pages written.
