The Study of Minimax Inequalities and Applications to Economies and Variational Inequalities

This book provides a unified treatment for the study of the existence of equilibria of abstract economics in topological vector spaces from the viewpoint of Ky Fan minimax inequalities, which strongly depend on his infinite dimensional version of the classical Knaster, Kuratowski and Mazurkiewicz Lemma (KKM Lemma) in 1961. Studied are applications of general system versions of minimax inequalities and generalized quasi-variational inequalities, and random abstract economies and its applications to the system of random quasi-variational inequalities are given.

Interest in the mathematical analysis of multi-functions has increased rapidly over the past thirty years, partly because of its applications in fields such as biology, control theory and optimization, economics, game theory, and physics. Set Valued Mappings with Applications to Nonlinear Analysis contains 29 research articles from leading mathematicians in this area. The contributors were invited to submit papers on topics such as integral inclusion, ordinary and partial differential inclusions, fixed point theorems, boundary value problems, and optimal control. This collection will be of interest to researchers in analysis and will pave the way for the creation of new mathematics in the future.

Vector Variational Inequalities and Vector Equilibria

The book deals with the mathematical theory of vector variational inequalities with special reference to equilibrium problems. Such models have been introduced recently to study new problems from mechanics, structural engineering, networks, and industrial management, and to revisit old ones. The common feature of these problems is that given by the presence of concurrent objectives and by the difficulty of identifying a global functional (like energy) to be extremized. The vector variational inequalities have the advantage of both the variational ones and vector optimization which are found as special cases. Among several applications, the equilibrium flows on a network receive special attention. Audience: The book is addressed to academic researchers as well as industrial ones, in the fields of mathematics, engineering, mathematical programming, control theory, operations research, computer science, and economics.

Cme Vulnerability, The: The Impact Of Negative Oil Futures Trading

In 2020, the global lockdowns caused by the COVID-19, or coronavirus, pandemic had resulted in a sharp drop in demand for crude oil. This impact was so severe that on April 8, 2020, a proposal to update the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Holdings Inc. (CME) trading rule to permit negative prices was applied to CME's WTI Oil futures contracts; this led to a novel phenomenon in which the closing clearing price of WTI Oil May future was $-37.63/barrel based on fewer than 400 contracts' trading volume in the last three minutes, reflecting less than 0.2% of the total trading contracts volume on April 20, 2020. This occurrence of negative closing clearing price for CME's WTI Oil futures trading, cann...

Handbook of Metric Fixed Point Theory

Metric fixed point theory encompasses the branch of fixed point theory which metric conditions on the underlying space and/or on the mappings play a fundamental role. In some sense the theory is a far-reaching outgrowth of Banach's contraction mapping principle. A natural extension of the study of contractions is the limiting case when the Lipschitz constant is allowed to equal one. Such mappings are called nonexpansive. Nonexpansive mappings arise in a variety of natural ways, for example in the study of holomorphic mappings and hyperconvex metric spaces. Because most of the spaces studied in analysis share many algebraic and topological properties as well as metric properties, there is no ...
