Sua economia de subsistência teve que se adaptar a um novo contexto socioeconômico que surge no Pantanal a partir de 1960. Para obter alguns benefícios de políticas públicas e ainda em razão das imposições da legislação ambiental que chegaram ao Pantanal, esses ribeirinhos alteraram a sua forma de produção econômica. Busquei compreender e apresento aqui quais foram as estratégias adotadas por eles para permanecer em seu território, as suas conexões profundas com as raízes indígenas e sua cosmovisão relacionada ao ritmo das águas e ao ciclo lunar.
