This collection of stories marks Singapore’s first book on creation care. Each story captures how ordinary Christians from different walks of life have humbly put their faith into radical action, and integrated the biblical ethos of creation care into the everyday. The writers reflect on creation care as an organic part of the path of discipleship and missional living, rather than an imposed or burdensome duty. The book presents a refreshing local perspective on the distinctiveness of Christian environmental ethics, seeks to encourage fellow Christians on this creation care journey, and inspire those who have yet to begin. Ultimately, it is an invitation to followers of Christ to care for God’s marvellous creation as an act of worship and love.

Creation Care and the Gospel

How should Christians react to environmental crisis? Historically, evangelicals have ignored this aspect of living for Christ, so this book aims to reinvigorate and empower Christians across the globe to care for creation. This book collects the work of biblical scholars, theologians, biologists, environmental researchers, and community organizers who met at “The Global Consultation on Creation Care and the Gospel” in Jamaica in 2012. Participants from 23 countries as diverse as Argentina, Bangladesh, Benin, and Canada gathered for five days to pray, talk, and reflect on the state of the planet—the home in which we live—and on the role and ministry of the church in caring for God’s creation. The book contains biblical and theological affirmations from well-respected scholars and teachers, reminding us that caring for creation is central to the evangelical faith. It is an integral part of our mission, an expression of our worship of God, and a matter of great joy and hope.

Why Does God Care Who I Sleep With?

Answers one of the biggest barriers to belief. Christians are increasingly seen as outdated, restrictive and judgmental when it comes to sex before marriage, cohabitation and homosexuality. In fact for many people, this issue is one of the biggest barriers for them considering Christianity. Sam Allberry, author of many books including Is God Anti-gay sets out God's good design for the expression of human sexuality, showing that God himself is love and that only he can satisfy our deepest desires. It is a great reminder of the Bible's positive blueprint for love, sex and marriage and ideal for giving away to people who may see this as a stumbling block for belief.

Of late there has grown in African Catholicism the concept of Church as the Family of God, Familia Dei, which has enhanced greater social cohesion among the members of the Church and strengthened interpersonal relationships among them. This book is an endeavour to offer a path towards the solution of the problem of environmental crisis through the theological discipline of ecclesiology. Using the Catholic Archdiocese of Lilongwe's understanding of Church as the Family of God, the book concludes that the application of the concept of Church as family of God, while bringing great social cohesion among the people, failed to extend to human relationships with the natural world, in fact It has broadened the human feeling of superiority over the natural environment. The book provides an ecclesiological complementarity which promotes a universal fraternity among people and the natural world ,and recommends an ecclesiological concept of Church as New Creation, Nova creatio. This would serve as a call for human beings to make a new ecological conversion, leading new lifestyles, change in their models of nature-worldviews, and change in the models of production and consumption.
