Information Text: In the early modern period, numerous texts deal with professions by presenting the knowledge required in each case, individual fields of activity, purpose, origin and prestige. The course of argumentation is humanistic, insofar as it mostly starts from the human being. The ancient idea of the primacy of mental work over manual work is formative here. The importance of Spain results from the fact that the Spanish king Charles V was both emperor and ruler of the colonies in America, i.e. he ruled a world empire by the standards of the time. After discussing some central categories, overall representations of knowledge, professions, and prominent professional representatives are presented. Here, the hierarchization and its relativization by satire is revealing. The mechanical arts and the artes liberales are then presented on the basis of individual professions selected as characteristic examples, each with its own specific knowledge. The higher faculties of medicine, theology and jurisprudence with their representatives form the conclusion.

Repensando pedagogías y prácticas interculturales en las Américas es el resultado de un ejercicio de reflexión y documentación de proyectos de investigación y programas de formación en educación superior que se han desarrollado con estudiantes indígenas y afrodescendientes, desde una lectura crítica de las políticas de educación intercultural bilingüe (EIB) en Centro y Sur América. Se busca poner en debate múltiples procesos educativos, políticos y epistémicos que, desde finales del siglo XX y bajo el impulso de lo que conocemos como EIB, se han desarrollado con la participación de actores diversos: docentes, académicos, activistas, comuneros, estudiantes, agencias gubernamentales y no gubernamentales. Esta apuesta surge del diálogo entre docentes y estudiantes que trabajamos en tema de la formación de docentes indígenas y profesionales indígenas para el campo educativo, en instituciones con larga data en estos procesos como la Universidad Politécnica Salesiana (UPS) de Ecuador y la Universidad Pedagógica Nacional (UPN) en México.
En los últimos años, en el Ecuador se habla de igualdad de condiciones entre mujeres y hombres de todas las culturas y nacionalidades. Sin embargo, la situación de desigualdad persiste: las mujeres siguen siendo marginadas, vulneradas en sus derechos y con pocas oportunidades para estudiar. Este es el caso de muchas mujeres indígenas de contextos rurales de la Sierra centro y norte del país. En las siguientes páginas, las graduadas de la Carrera de Educación Intercultural Bilingüe de la Universidad Politécnica Salesiana, nos cuentan cómo lucharon para poder estudiar y obtener su título de tercer nivel. Así, según relatan, para ellas ha sido bastante difícil educarse por su condición de mujeres e indígenas, de madres y por la pobreza y exclusión en que vivían. Además de que, por estas mismas condiciones, han estado expuestas a discriminación, no solo racial sino también de género. Compartir
