Auschwitz-Birkenau Zone
Presents postwar developments in preserving the Auschwitz-Birkenau ex-concentration and extermination camp in Poland. States that from 1991 working meetings were organized with representatives of municipal and conservation authorities in order to obtain a consensus on the aim and range of necessary works in the zone. Presents the results of the terrain studies, as well as the general guidelines for conservation and protection of the preserved structures of the former Auschwitz-Birkenau complex, among them protection of the historical landscape and a ban on demolition or reconstruction of former camp buildings. Underlines the necessity to take into consideration both Polish and Jewish memories of the site.

MacArthur Foundation, into how young people are living and learning with new media in varied settings—at home, in after school programs, and in online spaces. I am in full ag, reement with certain ideas expounded in that book, although it also contains others that I must object to. New Light on Phaistos Disc
A clay disk that looks like a child's game has become a headache for archaeologists and historians. And for the throngs of tourists who visit Crete, it is fascinating for its mystery. This is a completely new interpretation of the meaning of the Phaistos Disc, which opens new horizons never before imagined by archaeologists and historians. The utilized interpretative methodology is new as well: It presents a new way of investigating artifacts that are mysterious due to their age; direct evidence isn't possible and interpretation is difficult. The ancients' access to ideas was much different than now. The difficulty of understanding lies in the code of communication, which is no longer understood and in the contents themselves, since neither of the two falls within our wealth of knowledge. The result with the classic historical-archaeological method can only be "un-understanding". This book presents one possible solution. If we are willing to mix "Sacred and Profane", "Rational and Intuitive", and "Scientist and Artist", we can reach the result of this book: The unveiling of a meaning that would otherwise remain mysterious to the mind of modern man.
Folding Architecture
A relatively new trend in architecture, folding is a playful method that opens up the design process to spontaneity and surprise. Folding Architecture presents the results of research into the technique, which was carried out in The Netherlands by the architectural faculty at the TU in Delft. It is an enlightening and inspiring survey that is vividly illustrated and presents all of the much-discussed concepts, projects and buildings in which this process has been applied. And as the book implies the possibilities are endless. Compulsory reference material for any architect or student of architecture who wishes to design outside of mainstream.
