On the Theory and Policy of Systemic Change
Between 1989 and 1992 three colloquia on transformation problems were held at the Ludwig-Reimers-Stiftung, Bad Homburg. At the end of the 1980s the collapse of the Soviet-type socialist economic system had become clear and, hence, the necessity to transform these systems into an entirely different eco nomic order. Similar processes have happened and still happen in other his torical constellations, for instance in developing countries. It has been the aim of the Transformation Colloquium to gain more theoretical insight into these phenomena. The object of research has been transformation defined as transition from a given economic order (socialist planned economy e.g.) to a consistent new or der (market economy). This is a highly complex phenomenon which occurred, above all, during the 20th century: introduction and abolition of socialist sys tems, transition from war economies to peace-time market economies. Histori cal experience allows perhaps for certain generalizing abstractions. The central problem discussed at all (up to now) three colloquia is the question whether the object is amenable for theoretical analysis and which approaches eventually are promising.
Non-canonical Cyclic Nucleotides
The cyclic purine nucleotides 3’,5’-cAMP and 3’,5’-cGMP are well-established second messengers. cGMP has recently been covered in a volume of the Handbook of Experimental Pharmacology (volume 191). In addition to 3’,5’-cAMP and 3’,5’-cGMP, so-called non-canonical cyclic nucleotides exist. These comprise the cyclic pyrimidine nucleotides 3’,5’-cCMP and 3’,5’-cUMP, the purine nucleotide 3’,5’-cIMP, the 2’,3’-nucleoside monophosphates and cyclic dinucleotides. F Perfluorohalogenoorgano Compounds of Main Group Elements
This fourth volume of the Supplement Series supplying the Main Volumes of the series "Perfluorohalogenoorgano Compounds of Main Group Elements" (Part 1 to 9) covers the heterocyclic compounds of nitrogen as the last main group element of this series. Compounds of the elements of main group 1 to 4, 6 (without 0), and of P, As, Sb, Bi, and I are presented in the Supplement Volumes 1 to 3. Concept, organization, and selection as to coverage of the material are the same as in the preceeding volumes. Title compounds are either newly synthesized ones or those compounds already referred in the Main Volume Parts 5 and 6 for which new facts have been published. I wish to thank Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. E.
