Mit 14 Jahren habe ich schon ein Tagebuch geführt und mehr als 800 km Fluchtweg per Pferd und Wagen von Ostpreußen bis zur Elbe im Winter 1944/45 festgehalten. Kindheit, Flucht, Jugendzeit und einen komplizierten Lebensweg nach 1945 veranlaßten mich diese Autobiographie zunächst bis zu meinem 34. Lebensjahr zu schreiben. Die Schwierigkeiten des Aufstiegs eines parteilosen jungen Wissenschaftlers in der Ära Walter Ulbrichts habe ich wahrheitsgemäß beschrieben und es ist auch ein spezifisches Zeitdokument der ersten 15 Lebensjahre der damaligen DDR entstanden. Dabei finden landwirtschaftliche Probleme eine besondere Berücksichtigung, da ich als Diplomlandwirt und Diplomchemiker auf dem Gebiet der Ernährungsphysiologie der Nutztiere meinen wissenschaftlichen Weg zu finden hatte.

Biochemical Aspects of New Protein Food examines the biochemical aspects of the use and consumption of new protein foods and determine future areas for research by biochemists. The symposium showcases the presentation of biochemical research that provides a better understanding of the characteristics of new protein foods; their methods of production; and solutions to problems in the evaluation of their nutritive properties.
