Foruden titelkarakteren møder vi den jernhårde kapitalist grev Steen, der ikke har afskygningen af moral eller skrupler. Helge Rode tegner et skarpt portræt af det nietzscheanske magtmenneske, der mener, han er bedre end alle andre og derfor kan tillade at gøre, som det passer ham. Personskildringen er eminent, og skuespillet er spændende og levende. Helge Rode (1870-1937) var en dansk forfatter.
