Description: This item consists primarily of a diary written by Henrietta Muir aged 14 years old. Entries within this diary range from January-May 1864 and record comments and observations on domestic life in the Muir household, her family (including the birth of her brother), pastimes of drawing, attending sermons, and reading on subjects such as geography and history, her education, and social visits (particularly to 'Millie' and 'Aunt Isabel') and conventions of such. The diary itself is preceded by a letter dated 1901 sent to Henrietta by her husband. His letter relays information about a "steamer named 'Ethel'" about to leave for Ford Du Loe and difficulties faced attempting to treat and cure indigenous Peoples suffering from dysentery.

Description: This item consists of letters signed "Mother" [H.M. Edwards] to her daughter, Alice. Henrietta's letters to her daughter principally relay day to day life of her and her husband, their social visits, stats of health and often praise of their daughter. In one letter, Henrietta also refers to a royal visit of "the Prince" and the ceremonies that met his arrival, noting in particular the gifts of clothing presented to him by "Indians and squaws". The First World War and Austrian occupation of Italy are also common topics noted in her letters to Alice. There is also one letter addressed to her son- in-law Claude (Alice's husband) seeking information relative to his travel plans to visit his mother, and seeking to know whether he and Alice will pay her a visit beforehand. Included within the letters are newspaper articles article entitled 'Practical poultry experiments are conducted by students at Vermilion Agricultural School' and 'Caught Bridal Bouquet'.
