George Anson Helsop, Sr. was born " ... 31 Jan 1810, presumably at Thornaby, Yorkshire, England. Migrated to Ontario 1849. Farming. d[ied] 13 Feb. 1888 in Glanford Twp., Wentworth Co., Ont[ario]. Buried at St. George's Hannon."--P. 59. He married first Elizabeth Ord (1809-1848) on 21 Jan 1837 in Thornaby, Yorkshire, England. She died at Yarm, Durham, England. His second and third marriages were to Mary Jane Pottruff (1827-1865) in 1850 and Margaret Ralston (1835-1902) in 1866. Both of these marriages took place near Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Descendants lived in Canada, New Jersey, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Michigan, Oklahoma, Florida, California, Washington and elsewhere.
