Charles Woolverton emigrated from England sometime before 1693 and settled in New Jersey. He married Mary in about 1697. They had nine children. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia, Ohio, Indiana and Michigan.

General Rufus Putnam
During the Revolutionary War, Rufus Putnam served as the Continental Army's chief military engineer. As designer and supervisor of the construction of major fortifications, his contribution helped American forces drive the British Army from Boston and protect the Hudson River.
