A month has passed since the day at the airport, the day that changed Aria's restless life. Now that she's recovered from the injuries of that day, she plans to leave her hiding place. The objective: get human skin and hair for her new robot friend. Without such a disguise, long-term success is unlikely, regardless of what their plan involves: continued hiding, fleeing elsewhere, or fighting. But little do they know what a changed appearance can do to a bot and its closest human friend...
Everybody and their neighbor's dog thinks they can handle the truth. But the truth is, they can't. Three years ago, Madame Polonaise's Palm Reading Salon went by a different name: the Scientific Palm Studies Institute. Decorated more like a dentist's office than a fortunetelling shop, the Institute suffered from misbranding. Only when Madame Polonaise gave up much of her self-respect (and abandoned words like "objective," "logical," and "scientific") did she manage to revive the business. The keywords she uses nowadays include "mystical," "esoteric," and "cryptic"--perfectly in line with her clients' truly false (or falsely true?) expectations. But one evening, a man with a palm that is most alien to her wants a reading. And when Madame Polonaise sees him for what he is, she cannot look away from the truth anymore... *A metaphysical tale of palm lines and wry revelations, with a dash of cosmic dread for those who dare to look beyond their own palms.
A first impression: you get one chance to make it... ...if you really are the first one to make contact. Billy Clifford, a first-grade student at Everton Elementary, knows where the missing children are: under the manhole. Who put them there? The aliens, of course. So, on the night Billy sees a glimmer from under the manhole, he climbs down the sewers well prepared...
A life in service of a greater good is a life worth living... ...at any cost? Aria, an aidbot technician, once again finds herself at the airport. She's ready to leave this city behind and go wherever the next available flight takes her to. Nothing holds her back. Sometimes that's freeing. But mostly, she feels terribly restless. Lucky her, because she runs into the great bot engineer Antonius Wang. And when she sees that this old man needs help due to his malfunctioning aidbot, she gladly volunteers. Clearly, this encounter is mean-to-be. Problem: Mr. Wang's aidbot is 200 grams overweight and isn't allowed on any aircraft. And because of those 200 grams, Aria's travel plans take terribly unexpected turns in a world of intelligent bots, replaceable humans, and some beings in-between...
For the seers of the world who are hurting. A rhyming triplet that tells a larger story.
An extraordinary watermelon-saving spectacle, unfolding in the country of convicts where even the slightest bent back means immediate death. There is a country, which, in its entirety, is a penal nation. All convicts here cannot bend their backs whatsoever due to the chip implanted behind their ear, a.k.a. the “Proper Posture Torture.” The surrounding countries, which overflow with non-criminal civilians, air this torturous existence of the convicts in the form of a reality show to maintain social order. They want to suppress riots. But one day, a woman, who is about to enter Convict Country as yet another rookie, finds a watermelon seed at the entrance…
