Internet traffic is increasing by at least 200% per year and this is the first book to report on the current state-of-the-art of packet-switching architectures. The book to covers the subject in a comprehensive survey and presents contributions from the leading researchers in industry and universities. A mix of theoretical and practical material makes this book an essential reference for researchers in academia as well as industrial engineers.
The field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) was initially directly aimed at the construction of ‘thinking machines’ – that is, computer systems with human-like general intelligence. But this task proved more difficult than expected. As the years passed, AI researchers gradually shifted focus to producing AI systems that intelligently approached specific tasks in relatively narrow domains. In recent years, however, more and more AI researchers have recognized the necessity – and the feasibility – of returning to the original goal of the field. Increasingly, there is a call to focus less on highly specialized ‘narrow AI’ problem solving systems, and more on confronting the difficul...
New applications in recurrent neural networks are covered by this book, which will be required reading in the field. Methodological tools covered include ranking indices for fuzzy numbers, a neuro-fuzzy digital filter and mapping graphs of parallel programmes. The scope of the techniques profiled in real-world applications is evident from chapters on the recognition of severe weather patterns, adult and foetal ECGs in healthcare and the prediction of temperature time-series signals. Additional topics in this vein are the application of AI techniques to electromagnetic interference problems, bioprocess identification and I-term control and the use of BRNN-SVM to improve protein-domain prediction accuracy. Recurrent neural networks can also be used in virtual reality and nonlinear dynamical systems, as shown by two chapters.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 5th International Workshop on Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems, CHES 2003, held in Cologne, Germany in September 2003. The 32 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 111 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on side channel attack methodology, hardware factorization, symmetric cypher attacks and countermeasures, secure hardware logic, random number generators, efficient multiplication, efficient arithmetics, attacks on asymmetric cryptosystems, implementation of symmetric cyphers, hyperelliptic curve cryptography, countermeasures to side channel leakage, and security of standards.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 6th International IFIP-TC6 Networking Conference, NETWORKING 2007, held in Atlanta, GA, USA in May 2007. The 99 revised full papers and 30 poster papers cover ad hoc and sensor networks, wireless networks, and the next generation internet.
In this work, an innovative real-time microwave control approach is proposed, to improve the temperature homogeneity under microwave heating. Multiple adaptive or intelligent control structures have been developed, including the model predictive control, neural network control and reinforcement learning control methods. Experimental results prove that these advanced control methods can effectively reduce the final temperature derivations and improve the temperature homogeneity.
Compiling the most influential papers from the IEICE Transactions in Communications, High-Performance Backbone Network Technology examines critical breakthroughs in the design and provision of effective public service networks in areas including traffic control, telephone service, real-time video transfer, voice and image transmission for a content delivery network (CDN), and Internet access. The contributors explore system structures, experimental prototypes, and field trials that herald the development of new IP networks that offer quality-of-service (QoS), as well as enhanced security, reliability, and function. Offers many hints and guidelines for future research in IP and photonic backbone network technologies
