This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 4th International Workshop on Algorithmic Bias in Search and Recommendation, BIAS 2023, held in Dublin, Ireland, in April 2023. The 10 full papers and 4 short papers included in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 36 submissions. The present recent research in the following topics: biases exploration and assessment; mitigation strategies against biases; biases in newly emerging domains of application, including healthcare, Wikipedia, and news, novel perspectives; and conceptualizations of biases in the context of generative models and graph neural networks.
This book discusses dental healthcare professionals in the European Union and EU policy output and activities in the context of Europeanization and its impact on oral health care. Adopting a framework focused on an institution and its policies allows for discussion from the perspective of multiple actors, both national and international. The research is timely and significant because of the momentous changes that have taken and are taking place in healthcare delivery systems and professions in the Member States of the European Union. In the book, the author constructs a profile of the oral healthcare professions in the Member States; creates an inventory of challenges faced by these professi...
A Clinical Guide to Occupational and Environmental Lung Diseases delivers a concise compendium to the diagnosis and management of occupational and environmental lung diseases, incorporating evidence-based guidelines where available. Each chapter provides an updated review and a practical approach to different occupational and environmental lung diseases. With rapidly changing technology, new conditions and exposures will undoubtedly emerge. Clinicians need to remain vigilant about assessing the potential link between lung diseases and environmental exposures, and this book provides a practical guide to recognize, diagnose, and prevent occupational and environmental lung diseases. Written for practicing clinicians including internists, pulmonologists, and primary care providers, as well as industrial hygienists and environmental regulators, A Clinical Guide to Occupational and Environmental Lung Diseases is a timely and important new volume and an invaluable contribution to the literature.
This 150 page Pictorial Guide describes 27 native Ficus species of Eastern Ghats region, India and also 10 popular cultivated Ficus species used in gardens and fields of this region. Contains about 460 photographs with detailed morphological features, including about 160 micro-morphological photographs of all the wild and cultivated species of Eastern Ghats. Brief account on the habit and morphology; economic, religious and medicinal significance; propagation techniques, pollinators and the pollination mechanism in both monoecious and dioecious fig species is given in the book. The botanical descriptions of the species include latest accepted names, some well-known synonyms, local names, etymology, flowering and fruiting months; and uses. In general, the book will be useful to foresters, horticulturalists, naturalists, botanists, landscape architects, researchers, students and planners to create awareness about the Ficus species and to help in conservation. Its objective is to provide the reader with a glimpse of the fascinating world of figs and the life they support.
The papers presented at these meetings provide an updated review of the area and also cover a wide range of current research topics. This volume contains 46 selected papers covering the whole spectrum of modelling approaches, including analytical, empirical, semi-empirical and numerical models. A proportion of the papers deal with the energetics, dynamics and composition of just the thermosphere, whilst others are concerned with ionospheric behaviour at low, middle and high latitudes. Coupling phenomena figure prominently and numerical simulations are presented to show the coupling processes, feedback mechanisms and time delays associated with the interactions between the magnetosphere and ionosphere, the magnetosphere and thermosphere, and the mid-latitude ionosphere and plasmasphere.
