In Theology, Empowerment, and Prison Ministry Meins G.S. Coetsier offers a new scholarly account of Karl Rahner’s theological anthropology and the prison pastorate with a contemporary expansion for meaning, seeking an antidote to the suffering and isolation of those incarcerated with a “theology of empowerment.” Drawing on prison ministry theorists and practitioners, and on the experiences of Viktor Frankl, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn and Etty Hillesum, the book argues that Rahner’s views on prison ministry are significant and encouraging but limited regarding the needs and demands of 21st-century prison ministry. In a convincing, perceptive, and groundbreaking study, Coetsier goes beyond Rahner with ecumenical and interreligious perspectives, reminding us all of our human dignity, of meaning and transformation, of our liberation, creativity, hope and community.

Goddess of War

A strong...tale of operatic moral corrosion.-Kirkus Reviews on Gods & Gangsters Faith Newkirk has it all-a loving husband, beautiful daughter, and a thriving luxury shoe boutique in Washington D.C. Yet a part of her feels as though she's a stranger in her own life and that she's living a lie. When Faith gets kidnapped by a group of goons while walking to her car, she is forced, brutally to remember who she is-and it’s not the suburban wife and mother she’s been pretending to be, but Achilleía, the daughter of one of the most ruthless killers and drug dealers in New York City, who went missing and was presumed dead years prior. As the memories begin to flood back in, she remembers why she ran from her past and why, if she wants to stay alive, she has to keep running from the men she thought loved her who want her dead...

Areoke Children's Series 2

I can vividly recall Mama singing to me, "Hey, diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle," during earlier years of my life. Then she expresses in song, break out with her homemade version with that Southern twist in her voice, "Dang dang dilly, you look so silly," as I would look out my bedroom window at a star-filled sky and full moon, waiting for the cow to jump over it.I would begin to giggle, burst out into laughter, yawn, and fall asleep. At the rise of the sun, I'd wake up to the smell of scrambled eggs cinnamon toast and hot chocolate. Skipping off to school, I couldn't wait to share the songs and stories Mama told me.Mom would feed the birds flying above and the animals below, help at th...

Women and Prison

This edited volume presents research about life in prison for women, discussing both incarcerated women and those working in prisons. It addresses women’s paths through the criminal justice system from sentencing through post-incarceration and reintegration into society, highlighting the differences in women's experience of prison compared to their male counterparts and noting both the positive and negative changes implemented for women behind bars. Covering research on stigma, pop culture, motherhood, sexuality and gender, access to healthcare, vocational training, and educational opportunities, this text takes both a local and international view. Women and Prison is a comprehensive volume suitable for criminal justice researchers, mental health professionals, students of criminology, women's studies, sociology and those seeking a career in corrections.

Biblioteca teatral

Hay una respuesta (There Is an Answer)
