John Pearce (1632-1692) immigrated (probably from Wales) to Prudence Island, Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Descendants lived in New England, New York, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and elsewhere. James Edward Pearce (b.1921), a direct descendant in the tenth generation, married Margaret Deichler in 1942, and moved from Pennsylvania to California.
