Three generations of Davis ancestors of Acton Turville, Gloucester County, England to about 1500. The descendants of each generation are always listed by name. Mr. Davis (b.ca.1500) had 5 children and was probably born in Acton Turville. His son, James Davis (ca.1530/1540-ca.1579), had six children and lived in Acton Turville. John Davis (ca.1560-1626), a son of James, married twice, and was the father of James, Thomas and John Davis, brothers who immigrated from Acton Turville, England to Newbury, Massachusetts. John Davis (1601- 1675) of Newbury was the immigrant ancestor of the author.
