The Redford Diaries, Volumes I-V, 1875-1902
Transcription of vols. 1-5 of James Redford's seven volume diary. The diaries are detailed records of daily weather, commerce and frontier life in nineteenth century central Texas. The diaries begin on January 1, 1875 in Stratford, Ontario, Canada, where Redford was a prominent citizen in the community. In 1877 after serious financial reverses, Redford and some of his family move to free land in the Texas hill country.
