The 30 papers presented at the September 1995 conference consider acoustic particle velocity from the design, application, and performance perspectives, representing research in academia, industry, and the government. Sensor design presentations included commercial off-the-shelf devices to fiber opt
The low-frequency directional Class IV flextensional sonar transducer can produce omnidirectional, dipole, and left/right cardioid patterns. This capability provides the array designer with many options for generating directional beams, compared to arrays composed solely of omnidirectional sources. In this document, the directivity patterns of a single Class IV element and a 4-element orthogonal array are presented. A simple theoretical expression based on multipole sources and the principle of superposition is put forward to qualitatively explain all of the measured patterns.
This book contains a series of autoethnographies written by participants of a program on qualitative methods. It offers the stories of students-turned-professors and what they learned via autoethnographic writing as part of the course. The chapters provide insight into the application of a range of qualitative research techniques and, unlike typical works on qualitative methods, in a nonprescriptive method that reflects a personal learning process. This book will be of interest to students and academics engaged in qualitative research, as well as scholars of transformative learning, teaching pedagogy and broader educational studies.
