Félicien Rops (1833–1898) byl belgický malíř, grafik a ilustrátor, jehož výtvarná tvorba výrazně ovlivnila uměleckou prezentaci a interpretaci smyslné krásy ženského těla, lidské sexuality a temných stránek lidské duše. Publikace synteticky zpracovává Ropsovy životní osudy a komplexně analyzuje jeho volnou, grafickou, časopiseckou a knižní ilustrační tvorbu. Publikace Félicien Rops: enfant terrible dekadence je první původní českou uměleckou monografií, která život a dílo tohoto umělce prezentuje v kontextu symbolismu a dekadence. Prostřednictvím pečlivých analýz a reprezentativního obrazového doprovodu se čtenář může ponořit do Ropsova světa, v němž je krása obnaženého ženského těla zasazena do tabuizovaných sexuálních, literárních i sociálních souvislostí.

Ottilie W. Roederstein
Die 1859 als Kind deutscher Eltern in Zürich geborene Ottilie W. Roederstein gehörte zu Lebzeiten zu den führenden Malerinnen im deutschsprachigen Raum. Früh genoss sie auch Anerkennung in Paris. Wie nur wenige Frauen ihrer Zeit widmete sie ihr ganzes Leben erfolgreich der Kunst und führte zusammen mit ihrer Lebenspartnerin, der Gynäkologin Elisabeth H. Winterhalter, in Deutschland ein unkonventionelles, aber angesehenes Dasein. Während sich Roedersteins Frühwerk innerhalb der kunstakademischen Konventionen bewegte, öffnete sich die Malerin in ihrem reiferen Werk zunehmend anderen Strömungen, um in den 1920er-Jahren zu einer sachlich-nüchternen Bildsprache zu finden. Trotz ihrer einst internationalen Wertschätzung als Porträtistin und Malerin von Stillleben geriet Roederstein fast unmittelbar nach ihrem Tod 1937 in Vergessenheit. Nach mehreren Jahrzehnten widmen das Kunsthaus Zürich und das Städel Museum in Frankfurt am Main ihr die erste monografische Werkschau, die dieser umfassende Katalog begleitet.

Oskar Reinhart Collection
When Oskar Reinhart (1885-1965) bequeathed a significant part of his remarkable art collection - chiefly of French nineteenth-century painting but also containing a number of outstanding Old Masters - to the Swiss nation, he did so on condition that the works of art would never be loaned. As a consequence the many very important works in the collection have not been discussed in major exhibition catalogues and have not received the scholarly attention they deserve. This volume, with full entries on the entire collection of 207 works by 45 leading scholars in their field, both American and European, and superb plates carefully checked against the originals, sets out to rectify this state of affairs. Artists represented by several works in the collection that Reinhart made his monument include: Cezanne (11), Chardin (4), Corot (9), Courbet (10), Daumier (20), Delacroix (9), Gericault (2), Van Gogh (5), Maillol (8), Manet (4), Picasso (4), Pissarro (2), Renoir (15), Sisley (2).
