This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 12th International Conference on Discrete Geometry for Computer Imagery, DGCI 2005, held in Poitiers, France in April 2005. The 36 revised full papers presented together with an invited paper were carefully reviewed and selected from 53 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on applications, discrete hierarchical geometry, discrete tomography, discrete topology, object properties, reconstruction and recognition, uncertain geometry, and visualization.
Applied sciences in the 20th century have developed and used unitary transforms for concentrating energy. Now, the challenge lies in the expression and use of redundancy to build redundant systems. The Mojette transform is a very simple transform using only additions but with strong properties that break this challenge. The first part of the book gives the basics of the Mojette transform both mathematically and the corresponding optimal algorithms. The second part exemplifies its use through different fields: image representation, watermarking, medical imaging, distributed storage, information and cryptography. This book about a discrete exact Radon transform explains how to usefully produce and cope with redundancy for solving 21st century problems

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed proceedings of the 20th IAPR International Conference on Discrete Geometry for Computer Imagery, DGCI 2017, held in Vienna, Austria, in September 2017. The 28 revised full papers presented together with 3 invited talks were carefully selected from 36 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on geometric transforms; discrete tomography; discrete modeling and visualization; morphological analysis; discrete shape representation, recognition and analysis; discrete and combinatorial topology; discrete models and tools; models for discrete geometry.
Selected, peer reviewed papers from the 2012 International Conference on Mechatronics and Computational Mechanics (ICMCM 2012), 20-21st December,2012, Dubai, UAE
The performance of an algorithm used depends on the GNA. This book focuses on the comparison of optimizers, it defines a stress-outcome approach which can be derived all the classic criteria (median, average, etc.) and other more sophisticated. Source-codes used for the examples are also presented, this allows a reflection on the "superfluous chance," succinctly explaining why and how the stochastic aspect of optimization could be avoided in some cases.
As a society today, we are so dependent on systems-of-systems that any malfunction has devastating consequences, both human and financial. Their technical design, functional complexity and numerous interfaces justify a significant investment in testing in order to limit anomalies and malfunctions. Based on more than 40 years of practice in the development and testing of systems, including safety-critical systems, this book discusses development models, testing methodologies and techniques, and identifies their advantages and disadvantages. Pragmatic and clear, this book displays many examples and references that will help you improve the quality of your systemsof-systems efficiently and effectively and lead you to identify the impact of upstream decisions and their consequences. Advanced Testing of Systems-of-Systems 1 is complemented by a second volume dealing with the practical implementation and use of the techniques and methodologies proposed here.
The 1991 International Conference on Information Processing in Medical Imaging (IPMI '91) is the twelfth in the series and was held in Wye College, part of the University of London. The purpose of IPMI is to provide a forum for the detailed examination of methodological issues in computing which are at the heart of advances in medical image formation, manipulation and interpretation. This volume presents the proceedings of IPMI '91. Full-length scientific papers describing the latest techniques and results are organized into the following nine sections: - Image formation and reconstruction - Incorporation of priors in tomographic reconstruction - Multi-modal registration - Segmentation: spec...
Big Data is a new field, with many technological challenges to be understood in order to use it to its full potential. These challenges arise at all stages of working with Big Data, beginning with data generation and acquisition. The storage and management phase presents two critical challenges: infrastructure, for storage and transportation, and conceptual models. Finally, to extract meaning from Big Data requires complex analysis. Here the authors propose using metaheuristics as a solution to these challenges; they are first able to deal with large size problems and secondly flexible and therefore easily adaptable to different types of data and different contexts. The use of metaheuristics...
