Hudson

While Hudson was first settled around 1872, the community's namesake Isaac Washington Hudson Sr.'s family did not permanently move here until 1878. By 1884, the new town of Hudson had been platted, and the community's first post office and school were built. In its infancy, the community grew fast and residents relied upon the lands and Gulf waters for their livelihood. With the fast-growing community came the establishment of numerous sponging and fishing businesses in addition to farms. The banks of the big Hudson Spring were becoming the center of commerce, and there the resident businessmen constructed their docks, fish houses, mercantile stores, hotels, and more. Today, with a development on every corner and vacant lands becoming extinct, it is extremely hard to imagine those times. Little of this past remains, and in its place the bulldozers are paving Hudson with progress.

The Simple Truth brings meditation and mindfulness to the modern world through the profound insight and experiences of teacher, author and motivator - Jeff Cannon. Jeff combines Eastern Philosophy with Western Science to deliver a fascinating insight and self-empowerment program that walks the line between the humanities and science. It is truly a guide to your personal evolution. As a fast-track entrepreneur with a portfolio of successful businesses, Jeff was an example of today's 24/7 lifestyle until it all came to a crashing halt at the end of 2009. Another Year of Living Under the Dragon Stars

I've learned to read Jeff Cannon; First a read through to get the general feel of the poem, then I go back and do a line-by-line slow read to try and get an idea of the poet's feeling/motivation to have written these, invariably, graphic images of pain, mourning and revulsion that, to me, are reminiscent of the work of José Clemente Orozco. "Day and night dance together in the silence of a desire that sought more than a sip of pleasure" When he launches against the dark soul of the "Caucasoid empire", he does not pull back the punches, which, by the way, are not sterile or blind rage expressions of innocence lost or nostalgic feelings for a life that is no more. Jeff is as relentless as the...

The Conversation is an inspired book of growth and self-actualization. It follows the lucid dreams of Modern American Monk, Jeff Cannon, that transpired over five days and nights of awakening while staying on the Greek Island of Ithaca. The conversations of each dream answered many of Jeff's questions on the nature of existence, the meaning behind the Human Experience, as well as what happens next. The Conversation follows a very powerful law of physics into the world of metaphysics; that in reality energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only change form. The Conversation follows this simple law, to explain the natural order of existence that result in the balance and connectedness we all feel. It answers the questions everyone has about self and spirituality on every level. The result is a book that is simple to understand and easy to read. It is a meditation for the modern world. www.JeffCannonTheConversation.com www.simple-truth.com

Finding the Father at Table

Thomas Wolfe in Look Homeward Angel asked, “Which of us has looked into his father’s heart?” In Finding the Father at Table, Cannon does this and clears a path for us with simple words and earthy images. Embodied metaphors of a boy’s prayer and a dancing girl dissolve mystery and reveal the sacredness of the commonplace. Longing splashed with hope and sadness washed with passionate concern reach the heart of the matter. There we “find the voice stronger than a whisper, more real than a memory”. This book is an important read for both men and women to embrace more firmly or for the first time the first man they got to know.
