Asa Chaplin, son of Jonathan and Sarah Boynton Chaplin of Georgetown, Massachusetts, married Mary Bailey. He was a descendant of Hugh Chaplin (1603-1653/54) who came to Massachusetts ca. 1638. Descendants lived in Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, California, and elsewhere.
