This volume compiles research results from the fifth Function Spaces International Conference, held in Poznan, Poland. It presents key advances, modern applications and analyses of function spaces and contains two special sections recognizing the contributions and influence of Wladyslaw Orlicz and Genadil Lozanowskii.
A presentation of results in p-adic Banach spaces, spaces over fields with an infinite rank valuation, Frechet (and locally convex) spaces with Schauder bases, function spaces, p-adic harmonic analysis, and related areas. It showcases research results in functional analysis over nonarchimedean valued complete fields. It explores spaces of continuous functions, isometries, Banach Hopf algebras, summability methods, fractional differentiation over local fields, and adelic formulas for gamma- and beta-functions in algebraic number theory.
"Contains research articles by nearly 40 leading mathematicians from North and South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia, presented at the Fourth International Conference on p-adic Functional Analysis held recently in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. Includes numerous new open problems documented with extensive comments and references."
"Descriptive Topology in Selected Topics of Functional Analysis" is a collection of recent developments in the field of descriptive topology, specifically focused on the classes of infinite-dimensional topological vector spaces that appear in functional analysis. Such spaces include Fréchet spaces, (LF)-spaces and their duals, and the space of continuous real-valued functions C(X) on a completely regular Hausdorff space X, to name a few. These vector spaces appear in functional analysis in distribution theory, differential equations, complex analysis, and various other analytical settings. This monograph provides new insights into the connections between the topological properties of linear function spaces and their applications in functional analysis.
This is an autobiography and an exposition on the contributions and personalities of many of the leading researchers in mathematics and physics with whom Dr Krishna Alladi, Professor of Mathematics at the University of Florida, has had personal interaction with for over six decades. Discussions of various aspects of the physics and mathematics academic professions are included.Part I begins with the author's unusual and frequent introductions as a young boy to scientific luminaries like Nobel Laureates Niels Bohr, Murray Gell-Mann, and Richard Feynman, in the company of his father, the scientist Alladi Ramakrishnan. Also in Part I is an exciting account of how the author started his research...
This book is the result of a meeting on Topology and Functional Analysis, and is dedicated to Professor Manuel López-Pellicer's mathematical research. Covering topics in descriptive topology and functional analysis, including topological groups and Banach space theory, fuzzy topology, differentiability and renorming, tensor products of Banach spaces and aspects of Cp-theory, this volume is particularly useful to young researchers wanting to learn about the latest developments in these areas.
This volume contains the Proceedings of the 13th International Conference on p-adic Functional Analysis, held from August 12–16, 2014, at the University of Paderborn, Paderborn, Germany. The articles included in this book feature recent developments in various areas of non-Archimedean analysis, non-Archimedean functional analysis, representation theory, number theory, non-Archimedean dynamical systems and applications. Through a combination of new research articles and survey papers, this book provides the reader with an overview of current developments and techniques in non-Archimedean analysis as well as a broad knowledge of some of the sub-areas of this exciting and fast-developing research area.
Descriptive topology and functional analysis, with extensive material demonstrating new connections between them, are the subject of the first section of this work. Applications to spaces of continuous functions, topological Abelian groups, linear topological equivalence and to the separable quotient problem are included and are presented as open problems. The second section is devoted to Banach spaces, Banach algebras and operator theory. Each chapter presents a lot of worthwhile and important recent theorems with an abstract discussing the material in the chapter. Each chapter can almost be seen as a survey covering a particular area.
The Fourth International Conference on Topological Algebras and Their Applications was held in Oaxaca, Mexico. This meeting brought together international specialists and Mexican specialists in topological algebras, locally convex and Banach spaces, spectral theory, and operator theory and related topics. This volume contains talks presented at the conference as well as articles received in response to a call for papers; some are expository and provide new insights, while others contain new research. The book is suitable for graduate students and research mathematicians working in topological vector spaces, topological algebras, and their applications.
