Parallel and Distributed Processing and Applications - ISPA 2005 Workshops

This book constitutes the refereed joint proceedings of eight internationl workshops held in conjunction with the Third International Symposium on Parallel and Distributed Processing and Applications, ISPA 2005, held in Nanjing, China in November 2005 (see LNCS 3758). The 71 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 323 submissions. The papers of the eight workshops are very specific and contribute to enlarging the spectrum of the more general topics treated in the ISPA 2005 main conference. Topics addressed are applications and economics of peer-to-peer systems (AEPP 2005), advanced storage technology and autonomic distributed data (ASTD 2005), bioinformatics (BIOS 2005), grid computing in china (GCIC 2005), information assurance in distributed systems (IADS 2005), mobile ad-hoc and ubiquitous sensor networks (MASN 2005), service grid computing and applications (SGCA 2005), and Web information systems and applications (WISA 2005).

This SpringerBrief begins by introducing the concept of smartphone sensing and summarizing the main tasks of applying smartphone sensing in vehicles. Chapter 2 describes the vehicle dynamics sensing model that exploits the raw data of motion sensors (i.e., accelerometer and gyroscope) to give the dynamic of vehicles, including stopping, turning, changing lanes, driving on uneven road, etc. Chapter 3 detects the abnormal driving behaviors based on sensing vehicle dynamics. Specifically, this brief proposes a machine learning-based fine-grained abnormal driving behavior detection and identification system, D3, to perform real-time high-accurate abnormal driving behaviors monitoring using the b...

WiFi signal-based user authentication

As a privacy-preserving and illumination-robust manner, WiFi signal-based user authentication has become a new direction for ubiquitous user authentication to protect user privacy and security. It gradually turns into an important option for addressing the security concern of IoT environment. However, due to the limited sensing capability of WiFi signals and wide application scenarios, WiFi signal-based user authentication suffers from practical issues of diversified behaviors and complex scenarios. Therefore, it is necessary to address the issues and build integrated systems for user authentication using WiFi signals. In this book, the development and progress of WiFi signal-based user auth...

Welcome to the proceedings of ISPA 2005 which was held in the city of Nanjing. Parallel computing has become a mainstream research area in computer science and the ISPA conference has become one of the premier forums for the presentation of new and exciting research on all aspects of parallel computing. We are pleased to present the proceedings for the 3rd International Symposium on Parallel and Distributed Processing and Applications (ISPA 2005), which comprises a collection of excellent technical papers, and keynote speeches. The papers accepted cover a wide range of exciting topics, including architectures, software, networking, and applications. The conference continues to grow and this year a record total of 968 manuscripts (including workshop submissions) were submitted for consideration by the Program Committee or workshops. From the 645 papers submitted to the main conference, the Program Committee selected only 90 long papers and 19 short papers in the program. Eight workshops complemented the outstanding paper sessions.
