Beyond the traditional purposes of moving people, goods, raw materials, and mail from place to place lies a world of unconventional uses of motor vehicles. Rolling grocery stores, churches, classrooms and health clinics have taken traditionally stationary services directly to those who need them. Companies have built vehicles in the shapes of their products (the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile being just one famous example) from the early years of automobiles. This lively history gives a fascinating overview of the many special purposes vehicles have served. The unconventional uses of motor vehicles stretch one's imagination. The author here divides them into eight types based on their purposes and...

The O’Farrell Cup

The cup was presented to the Wagga Wagga CA on the October 20, 1925, by Mr. Thomas Joseph “Tom” O’Farrell, who was a tailor with a business in Wagga Wagga. Its purpose was to raise the standard of country cricket and help arouse the interest and enthusiasm of both players and public in the game. By the original rules, which were drawn up by Mr. O’Farrell, Mr. M. Cusick, and Mr. G. Pinkstone, the cup was won outright by Wagga, who wisely redonated it, and it was put into play in the 1930–31 season as a perpetual challenge trophy for teams within one hundred miles radius of Wagga Wagga. O’Farrell was a frequent spectator at games and often handed over the cup to the winning captain. He was later to say, “I am particularly glad that the competition is doing so much to let the residents of surrounding towns learn more of each other in so friendly a way.”

This book draws back the curtain on the authors life and lets in the light of God's grace which is always sufficient for us whatever we are facing. When God gave Helen a vision, it was at one of the lowest points of her life. She was excited as the vision revealed something of the future God had planned for her. When she shared the vision with some friends they laughed at her. " Why would God give you a ministry and a house?" They asked. At that time her self esteem was very low, so Helen agreed with them. Why would the Lord give her a big house and a husband as well as a ministry? This only happened to special people and she wasn't one of those, were her thoughts. She was a nobody, with little or no future! They were right. So she laid the vision down believing it to be impossible, but Helen reckoned without God, a fatal mistake! When two months later the Lord spoke into her life, telling her to pick the vision up again. She was delighted. This time she took hold of it with both hands, and determined that she would not let go of it again, no matter what it cost her. Little did she know it would almost cost her, her life!

You Don't Have to Tell Everything You Know

"I was amazed how well Liz Newall drew me into the world of Icie Jones. In lesser hands, the potentially complex telling of Icie's story could have been maudlin, but, delightfully, it's compelling, intriguing and sparkling with Southern delight. You Don't Have to Tell Everything You Know is, quite simply, wonderful." -Mark A. Stevens, author, The Clinchfield No. 1: Tennessee's Legendary Steam Engine Isamar Woods Jones McGee, was born in upstate South Carolina into a second family in 1865, one month after the Civil War ended. Her life is a product of unsettled times, family dynamics, and the human condition. She tells her story and those of the people around her through journal entries, which...
