Continuing the European Constitutional Debate
The present volume contains German and Czech legal contributions to the EU constitutional debate. The contributions are based on talks given at a conference, which was held in Oberwiesenthal from 16 to 18 October 2006. The conference took place at a time of uncertainty about the fate of the Constitutional Treaty signed on 29 October 2004. Constitutional Evolution in Central and Eastern Europe
This book examines EU enlargement by studying how domestic constitutional evolution in the new member states contributes to European integration. In contrast to the usual top-down analytical pattern, it reverses the paradigm by looking at constitutional developments and dynamics from the bottom-up, studying how domestic constitutional evolution contributes to European integration. The authors analyze constitutional trends from the perspective of 'new Member States' as policy-makers and not strictly as policy-takers. A Constitution for Europe
The ratification-process to the contract about a constitution for Europe is a critical state. This volume deals with the last phases of the emergence, analyzes the constitutional approach, searches for conditions for the ratification, asks for strategies in case of the rejection by some of the member states, for the meaning of the referenda, and the possible effects of the constitution on the sovereignty of the member states.
