John Linford was the seventh of ten children born to John Linford Sr. and Sarah Ashcroft. He was born 28 August 1808 in Eltisley, Huntingdonshire, England and married Maria Bently Christian 24 June 1833. They were converted and baptised into the L.D.S. Church 9 December 1842 and in 1856 immigrated wih the saints to America. John died in 1856 while moving Westward with his family to Utah.
