'Hugely enjoyable ... Green's great achievement is to recapture exactly how those moments felt, but remain sufficiently detached about the whole thing to render the experience honestly' MOJO Johnny Green first met the Clash in 1977. A RIOT OF OUR OWN is his tale of three delirious years of rock 'n' roll madness as confidant and road manager of the Clash, from the early punk days to LONDON CALLING and touring America. Ray Lowry accompanied the band as official 'war artist' on the second American tour and designed the London Calling album cover. Together, in words and pictures, Green and Lowry give the definitive, inside story on one of the most magnificent rock 'n' roll bands ever.

Green (1841-1920), an enlisted man with Kentucky's famed Confederate Orphan Brigade throughout the Civil War, fought at Shiloh, Baton Rouge, Vicksburg, Chickamauga, Atlanta and many other crucial battles. An acute observer with a flair for humanizing the impersonal horror of war, he kept a record of his experiences, and penned an exciting front-line account of America's defining trial by fire. Albert D. Kirwan provides a brief history of the Orphan Brigade and a biography of Johnny Green. Introductions to each chapter explain references in the journal and also set the context for the major campaigns.

Push Yourself Just a Little Bit More

Johnny Green, ex-road manager of The Clash and author of A Riot of Our Own, gets behind the security cordon of Le Tour de France to provide an insider's account of the world's greatest cycle race. No book on the Tour de France has ever got quite as close to the race as this account of the 2003 and 2004 races from inside the security cordon, mingling with the cyclists, press and the 'Credit Lyonnais trophy girls' in equal measure. Johnny Green managed to blag his way right to the inner sanctum, to chat to the likes of Sheryl Crow and David Millar and the many stagehands behind the scenes on the three-week tour. The only place he didn't make it was into the doping van. Fittingly, from the former road manager of The Clash, PUSH YOURSELF JUST A LITTLE BIT MORE is a kind of rock 'n' roll account of life on the road with Le Tour.
