Following their first gathering in Munster, Westphalia, the city of Ford's ancestors, Fordians present a multi-faceted image of this Anglo-German and Francophile English Modernist. International interest in the Hueffers' German background will be triggered by two articles on Franz Hueffer and the references to Munster and Westphalia in Ford's writings. Excursions in politics and poetry and Ford in context provide a framework for "Aspects of Parade's End", the edition and simultaneous translation of which into major European languages forms the most important project for the new Millennium.
Ford Madox Ford is a major modernist writer, yet many of his works do not conform to our assumptions about modernism. Examining ways in which he, alongside other 'misfit moderns', undermines 'stabilities' we expect from novels and memoirs, this book poses questions about the nature of narrative and the distinction between modernism and modernity.

Faust has been called the fundamental icon of Western culture, and Goethe's inexhaustible poetic drama is the centrepiece of its tradition in literature, music and art. This collection of essays primarily honours Bernfried Nugel the teacher and scholar, but it also pays homage to Bernfried Nugel the indefatigable worker in the cause of Aldous Huxley studies. It is due to this latter manifestation that many of the contributors to this volume know each other personally, having met at one or more of the international conferences that Professor Nugel organized and either hosted or co-hosted. At Munster, his home university, he has also been instrumental in establishing and heading a center for admirers of Huxley's work, along with a fine library of Huxley materials, including manuscripts and numerous first editions.
