Uma das marcas da literatura de Jorge Sá Earp é sua facilidade em contar uma história com fluência, estabelecendo uma rápida comunicação com os leitores, ao mesmo tempo em que é possível perceber nas entrelinhas a ampla erudição do autor, versado nos mais diversos temas das artes e da cultura, sempre presentes nos seus textos com graça e leveza. Outra marca presente em muitos de seus livros é o homoerotismo, também tratado com a mesma naturalidade nas mais variadas situações em seus contos e romances. Em O fio da seda, Sá Earp constrói um verdadeiro romance de formação, valendo-se das memórias da infância e revelando uma paixão pela literatura que vem do berço, desde as histórias contadas pela mãe do narrador em Lages – não à toa ela é comparada a Sheherazade. Assim como o menino que perguntava “E depois?” a cada história, pois não queria que acabassem, o escritor nos enfeitiça e seduz com sua narrativa envolvente, nos conduzindo por um fio imaginário que entrelaça todas as leituras e experiências de uma vida.

Vanishing Point
The story is placed in the 1970s in the new capital of Brasilia, and involves mostly gay and lesbian characters struggling to build a life in the socially barren but growing city. It has many turns of plot involving betrayal, reconciliation, "outings" and frustration, as well as moments of great beauty. It is told in the voices of four first-person narrators, the main characters, who alternate in telling the story from different points of view. The Brazilian writer and critic Antonio Callado has said: "Vanishing Point is a modern, skeptical novel. It is, above all-and this is what matters, what deserves awards-very well written." Ron Kienzle said: ..." Once I started, I couldn't put it down I was completely wrapped in the prose. I've not read anything like it for a long time. Maybe since Catcher in the Rye. I can't quite identify the style but it's reminiscent of Salinger/Hemingway/Lawrence.
