This bibliography, which includes all items catalogued before 1980, is thus a powerful guide to a body of legal literature that dates back to the birth of printing. The first three sections cover early editions of the Code of Canon Law, the code's historical foundations and the decisions of the Roman Rota, or the Church's jurisprudence. The remaining sections correspond exactly to the divisions of the Code of Canon Law and cover such subjects as persons, things, procedural law and crimes and penalties. Comprehensive author and subject indexes are included as well.
Impelling Spirit
Impelling Spirit is a book about Jesuit spirituality as seen in its origins. As such it responds to the challenge of Vatican II that the appropriate renewal of religious life demands a return to the sources of Christian life and the spirit and aims of the founders of an institute. The instrument the author employs is a 1539 document Ignatius and his companions drafted for Pope Paul III as an apostolic letter addressed to themselves; this document - long neglected and largely unknown - clearly reveals how they understood themselves and their way of life. It demonstrates that the spirit and aims of the Society, though radical in 1539, were also deeply rooted in the Christian tradition.

Este libro da buena cuenta de lo mucho que José María Castán dio. La rica y atractiva respuesta que tantos amigos han ofrecido a una propuesta de modesto homenaje así lo pone de manifiesto. Toda su vida la dedicó José María Castán al estudio del Derecho y, durante treinta años, a enseñarlo en su Universidad Pontificia Comillas, en ICADE. Numerosas publicaciones y conferencias mostraron que su inquietud jurídica no se detuvo en su querido Derecho de Familia, ni siquiera, en el Derecho civil.
