Television Series of the 2000s

In the first decade of the new millennium, the four major networks struggled to hold their own as cable channels and unscripted shows began to dominate the television landscape. Network powerhouses like 24, Desperate Housewives, and Two and a Half Men competed for viewers siphoned off by cult shows like The Closer, Gilmore Girls, and Veronica Mars. In that decade, shows such as 30 Rock and Modern Family were vying for awards while programs like Bones, CSI, and Dexter were pushing the envelope for graphic violence. All of these shows live on in syndication, streaming services, and DVDs, generating a constant wave of new viewers. In Television Series of the 2000s: Essential Facts and Quirky De...

Who was Who on TV

The information herein was accumulated of fifty some odd years. The collection process started when TV first came out and continued until today. The books are in alphabetical order and cover shows from the 1940s to 2010. The author has added a brief explanation of each show and then listed all the characters, who played the roles and for the most part, the year or years the actor or actress played that role. Also included are most of the people who created the shows, the producers, directors, and the writers of the shows. These books are a great source of trivia information and for most of the older folk will bring back some very fond memories. I know a lot of times we think back and say, "Who was the guy that played such and such a role?" Enjoy!

Boy's Life

An Alabama boy’s innocence is shaken by murder and madness in the 1960s South in this novel by the New York Times–bestselling author of Swan Song. It’s 1964 in idyllic Zephyr, Alabama. People either work for the paper mill up the Tecumseh River, or for the local dairy. It’s a simple life, but it stirs the impressionable imagination of twelve-year-old aspiring writer Cory Mackenson. He’s certain he’s sensed spirits whispering in the churchyard. He’s heard of the weird bootleggers who lurk in the dark outside of town. He’s seen a flood leave Main Street crawling with snakes. Cory thrills to all of it as only a young boy can. Then one morning, while accompanying his father on hi...

Again with the Light

With poems composed over five decades, but predominantly for his 2016 Ashland University MFA thesis of the same title, Again with the Light is a collection drawn from an entire life. It comes, first, from a childhood on the autistic spectrum, improperly diagnosed, in which a fascination with forests, trees, birds, water, and rough pathways of the literal and metaphorical kind provide a landscape of imagery for the whole. Increasingly, an attraction toward Christ leads through numerous permutations of faith and various Christian communities to Eastern Orthodoxy, an earthy, unearthly place with a connection to kenosis and theosis. Along the way come lives of saints and prosodic experiments in a postmodern but reachable style.
