This is an extremely important book for today's generation of women who are single, divorced or widowed, looking at the dating scene and asking themselves "What am I supposed to do now?" Poter's re-definition of the word "Cougar" as no longer being the predatory jungle animal some define the Cougar but as strong, unique and powerful creatures who can make their own choices about their lives that reflect who they are today. The author's personal history is very compelling and adds to the easy readability of this terrific book. Her insights are spot on and her advice is comprehensive and detailed even as she states what should be obvious but isn't always: "No married men" or "No texting while on a date." The book is also filled with real-life examples and clever sayings that bring it all home and put everything about the incredibly complex and confusing dating scene into something we can understand and relate to. In particular, check out the sections on "Lessons Learned" and "Red Flags."
At 47 years old, KarenLee Poter found herself suddenly single after being married for 24 years. Upon jumping into the dating world, she found the majority of men she jived with were considerably younger. Poter wanted to explore this further, so she created a sex and dating talk show, which became extremely popular on YouTube with men 18-35 who had a fascination with older women. In this book, Poter describes why a Cougar -- a term she re-defined as a confident, older, unique, genuine, assertive, and racy woman -- is so attractive to younger men and why the dynamic works so well. KarenLee also shares her real life personal anecdotes on dating and being in long term relationships with younger men, and she candidly dishes hot tips in response to her audiences' comments and questions on the ever-popular older women/younger men phenomenon.
A fascinating exploration of modern podcasting as a tool for decolonization In The Podcaster's Dilemma: Decolonizing Podcasters in the Era of Surveillance Capitalism, Drs. Nolan Higdon and Nicholas Baham III connect contemporary podcasting to the broader history of the use of radio technology in the service of anti-colonial struggle and revolution. By organizing the book’s analysis of decolonization through podcasting via three distinct activities—interrogation and critique, counter-narrative, and call to action—the authors create a lens through which they analyze and evaluate the decolonizing potential of new podcasts. The book also critiques the threat to the decolonizing efforts of ...
