Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2020 im Fachbereich Kunst - Kunstgeschichte, Note: 2,0, Ruhr-Universität Bochum (Fakultät für Geschichtswissenschaften), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Im Zuge des Wiederaufbaus nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg beauftragte die Stadt Köln Karl Hugo Schmölz mit der Dokumentation der Kriegszerstörungen und des Wiederaufbaus. Dabei widmete Schmölz sich besonders den Treppenhäusern der dokumentierten Bauten, denn es herrschte die Meinung vor, dass die Treppenhäuser der 1950er Jahre ein zentrales Motiv für den architektonischen Neuanfang der Zeit und sozusagen ein Symbol für den dynamischen Aufstieg aus den Trümmern der Nachkriegsjahre darstellten. Diese Arbeit versucht diese Bilder von 1937 bis 1986 zu analysieren und einzuordnen und mit Werken aus Filmgeschichte und bildender Kunst in Relation zu setzen.
