Human papillomavirus (HPV) infections cause approximately 5% of all human cancers. While there are efficacious prophylactic vaccines that prevent infections with the most common cancer-associated HPVs, these vaccines are not widely available in low-resource settings and in many countries, including the US, HPV vaccination rates have remained disappointingly low. Moreover, vaccination does not modify existing HPV infections and the incidence of HPV-associated anal and oropharyngeal cancers has steadily increased and is projected to overtake the caseload of cervical cancer in the next two years. Hence, infections with cancer-associated HPVs will remain a major cause of morbidity and mortality, worldwide. This book provides state-of-the-art summaries and expert viewpoints on unresolved, controversial or emerging topics related to the natural history, evolution, biology, and disease association of papillomavirus infection. The individual chapters cover a wide range of thought provoking topics.

Historic Mexico

Historic Mexico

In 1796, George Scriba received a patent for the town of Mexico, a large tract of land in central New York. One town after another was formed from the territory, and by 1830, Mexico reached its present size. It was a self-contained town where people raised their own food and bought necessities they were unable to make from local merchants. From the late 1800s to the mid-1900s, Lake Ontario was a great influence on the local community and prompted the building of two large inns at Mexico Point. Historic Mexico depicts the early businesses in the village, churches, schools, general stores, cheese factories, and inns that have shaped Mexico's history.

The Warren Buffett Portfolio

Der Fortsetzungstitel zu "The Warren Buffett Way" vom gleichen Autor.

Essential Concepts in Molecular Pathology

This streamlined "essential" version of the Molecular Pathology (2009) textbook extracts key information, illustrations and photographs from the main textbook in the same number and organization of chapters. It is aimed at teaching students in courses where the full textbook is not needed, but the concepts included are desirable (such as graduate students in allied health programs or undergraduates). It is also aimed at students who are enrolled in courses that primarily use a traditional pathology textbook, but need the complementary concepts of molecular pathology (such as medical students). Further, the textbook will be valuable for pathology residents and other postdoctoral fellows who d...
