Poznáte osudy lidí, kteří často přinášeli až nemyslitelné oběti v dobách válečné temnoty i diktatury, aby věrni svému přesvědčení bránili pravdu Boží i svůj národ.

Mircea Eliade

Mircea Eliade: From Magic to Myth addresses a series of topics that have been neglected in scholarship. The book looks at the early Romanian background of some of Eliade's ideas, Eliade's attitude toward Judaism, his association with the Romanian extreme right movement known as the Iron Guard, and assessing the impact of Eliade's personal experiences on the manner in which he presented religion.

Believing Thinking, Bounded Theology

Surprisingly little attention has been given in recent scholarship to the work of Emil Brunner (1889-1966), one of the leading neo-orthodox theologians of the twentieth century. But his influence on modern theology persists to this day, offering a path to philosophical truth through faith. In Believing Thinking, Bounded Theology, Cynthia Bennett Brown explores the nature of and limits to theological thinking in Brunner's work. What results from this study is an encounter with a thoroughly biblical, warmly pastoral, carefully intellectual, and insistently Christocentric exposition of the Christian faith that remains relevant for theology and life today.

The Instrumental Music of Schmeltzer, Biber, Muffat and their Contemporaries

Based on primary sources, many of which have never been published or examined in detail, this book examines the music of the late seventeenth-century composers, Biber, Schmeltzer and Muffat, and the compositions preserved in the extensive Moravian archives in Kromeriz. These works have never before been fully examined in the cultural and conceptual contexts of their time. Charles E. Brewer sets these composers and their music within a framework that first examines the basic Baroque concepts of instrumental style, and then provides a context for the specific works. The dances of Schmeltzer, for example, functioned both as incidental music in Viennese operas and as music for elaborate court pa...
