Sri Sathya Sai Baba (1926-2011, "Swami") is well known as one of India's very greatest spiritual personalities in modern times. Although his teachings are largely considered in the ambit of Indian Tradition, he spoke already in his younger years from a single, universal vision/understanding of Divinity (or the Divine) and Spiritual Life. One and the same Divine manifests in the consciousness and daily living of all human beings in all cultures, religions and philosophies. It is the core of their "I," and can be experienced more directly and merged into by true Spiritual Life. This book gives a detailed exposition of this vision/understanding for both Indian and international readers using key excerpts from Swami's monthly spiritual instructions in 1979-1984 and discussing their meaning and reality in experience.

This volume presents a mix of translations of classical and modern papers from the German Didaktik tradition, newly prepared essays by German scholars and practitioners writing from within the tradition, and interpretive essays by U.S. scholars. It brings this tradition, which virtually dominated German curricular thought and teacher education until the 1960s when American curriculum theory entered Germany--and which is now experiencing a renaissance--to the English-speaking world, where it has been essentially unknown. The intent is to capture in one volume the core (at least) of the tradition of Didaktik and to communicate its potential relevance to English-language curricularists and teac...

Originally published in 1976, this title is an edited volume and reflects the major approaches being taken in structural learning at the time. Chapter 1 deals with the basic question of whether competence (knowledge) should be characterized in terms of rules (automata), on the one hand, or associations on the other. The bulk of Chapter 2 is devoted to a series of earlier experiments on rule learning by the editor and his associates. The two contributions in Chapter 3 deal with graph theoretical models. Piagetian models constitute the subject of Chapter 4. Chapter 5 deals with attempts to stimulate human behaviour with a computer. Chapter 6 ranges over a wide variety of competence models, with particular reference to logic and mathematics. In Chapter 7 the editor proposes a new theory of structural learning, together with some empirical results.
