Sooner or later even a semi- literate conscious mind contemplates life from the perspective of the grizzled face staring back from the bathroom mirror. "How did this happen?" "I was having fun and all of a sudden. . . " Reece Roth, the main character of this work of fiction is a fifty something guy who found that mirror. Recently divorced again (he has lost count of how many times) he has enough life left in him to scream back at his reflection: "Hell no, not yet!" Obviously this last bit of hubris generates much laughter among the gods, as well as a humorous commitment to show him who's boss. This book is nothing more than an offering to all those who cling stubbornly to their own sense of dignity. As in particle physics, energy manifests and extinguishes a thousand times in the blink of an eye. As in Nature, fairness seems random and detached from mankind's childish notions of justice. As any old person swaddled in blankets sitting by a window at an old folks home will tell you, life itself is a side slapping illusion.

The purpose of this book is to be a practical and biblical guide to help women learn the following: The goal of discipleship Biblical examples of discipleship Biblical traits of a discipler Requirements of the discipler and the disciple How to get to know the disciple How to set expectations and limits for healthy relationships How to encourage and pray for the disciple How to listen prayerfully How to be a good steward of your time, health, and resources How to know when you are finished Practical tools to disciple another Our prayer is that individuals invest in discipling a younger believer in the faith in one-on-one relationships. The Bible has called us to come alongside others and help them grow in the faith and in their personal walk and intimacy with the Lord Jesus Christ. We have written Two, Please! to help women learn how to disciple young believers to maturity in the faith and help disciples receive Christs invitation to the truly joy-filled, abundant life. Sadly, joy and the abundant life are all too often missing in the busy 21st-century Christian. The biblical command to make disciples is waning in our individual lives. What is at stake if we do nothing differently?

The Lost Daughter

Brooke O’Connor—elegant, self-possessed, and kind—has a happy marriage and a deeply loved young daughter. So her adamant refusal to have a second child confounds her husband, Sean. When Brooke’s high school boyfriend Alex—now divorced and mourning the death of his young son—unexpectedly resurfaces, Sean begins to suspect an affair. For fifteen years Brooke has kept a shameful secret from everyone she loves. Only Alex knows the truth that drove them apart. His reappearance now threatens the life she has so carefully constructed and fortified by denial. With her marriage—and her emotional equilibrium—at stake, Brooke must confront what she has been unwilling to face for so long. But the truth is not what Brooke believes it to be. Lucy Ferriss’s haunting novel reveals the profound ways in which remorse over the past can not only derail lives but also—sometimes—redeem them.
