Jean-Baptiste Bruguier dit Bélair (1743-1820), son of Claude Bruguier and Marie-Madeleine Bernard, was born in Bollène, France. He married Thérèse Beaudry (d. 1778) in 1760. He married Élisabeth Petiteau (d. 1782) in 1779 in L'Assomption, Quebec. He married Marie-Madeleine Massue (d. 1793) in 1783. He married Angélique Lecours in 1797. He was the father of twenty-four children.
